Don G Pope

During his career, Don actively worked for the improvement of the legal profession.  While serving as Assistant District Attorney in the child support enforcement division in Okmulgee and McAlester he was one of the founders of the Oklahoma Child Support Enforcement Association.

While at the Oklahoma Department of Corrections he started the Oklahoma State General Counsel’s Association, a group of attorneys from the various state agencies who regularly met to share ideas and practices for the improvement of agency operations. 

This group continues to meet to this day. Don served as President of the Cleveland County Bar Association from 2012-2013 and as the 2012-2013 Chair of the Law Office Management and Technology Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. He was also Law Day Chair for the Cleveland County Bar Association in 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015.

The CCBA received the prestigious Hicks-Epton Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association for best Oklahoma law day program in 2009. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Board for the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System.  

Don graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in History and received his law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1977. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Oklahoma, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. 

Don is a native of Oklahoma and has lived in the Norman area for over thirty years. He and his wife, Teresa, enjoy entertaining and traveling. He is also active in the Norman Kiwanis and served on the board for several years and as president for 2017-2018. He is also active in his church, First Christian of Norman where he has served as a Deacon.
